DAY IN SPORTS: MORGAN STINGY AGAIN.

Such was the case Tuesday as Morgan, a Louisville High of Woodland Hills graduate, made three saves to earn her eighth shutout this season as Pierce beat visiting Hancock 5-0 in a Western State Conference nondivisonal match.

Morgan, who has received recruiting interest from Cal State Northridge, has given up just two goals this season - one to Cuesta cuesta (kwĕs`tə), asymmetric ridge characterized by a short, steep escarpment on one side, and a long, gentle slope on the other. The steep side exposes the edge of erosion-resistant rock layers that form the cuestas.  and the other to Ventura, one of the top programs in the state.

Lilly Espinoza, Amanda Schlank, Nicole Freeman, Sahar Soleymani and Kasey Kota scored goals for Pierce (8-1-1), which plays host to Bakersfield at 4 p.m. Friday in a South Division opener.

--Mission 2, Canyons 1: In a nondivisonal game, Daisy Sainz and Mariela Avalos combined for 16 saves and Delores Sanches scored both goals for host Mission (2-3-2), which plays Moorpark in a North Divison opener at 4 p.m. Friday at San Fernando San Fernando, city, Argentina

--CS Northridge d. CS Fullerton 3-0: Erica Aere had a team-high 13 kills and Nadine Nickel had 39 assists for host CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge  in a 30-24, 30-28, 30-19 Big West Conference victory.

Jennifer McNees added 10 kills and Liz Naegle had eight blocks for the Matadors (6-5, 1-2), who play host to UC Riverside on Thursday at 7 p.m.

In girls' golf:

--Notre Dame 258, Chaminade 290: Despite the solid play of medalist Nicole Mayo, who shot a 4-over at the par-35 Porter Valley Country Club, Chaminade of West Hills lost a Mission League match to Notre Dame Notre Dame IPA: [nɔtʁ dam] is French for Our Lady, referring to the Virgin Mary. In the United States of America, Notre Dame  of Sherman Oaks.

Mayumi Kobayashi (41), Erinn Roundtree (45) and Ali Simpson (55) each contributed for Notre Dame, undefeated in both its games this season.

Agoura 224, Rio Mesa 262: Jasmine Koehler shot 39 to lead Agoura (6-0) past the Spartans of Oxnard (0-3) in nonleague play at par-35 Spanish Hill CC. Lotta Andonian of Rio Mesa was medalist at 36.

In girls' tennis:

--Calabasas 17, Westlake 1: Kristen McVitty, Erin Everly Erin Invicta Everly (born November 8 1965 in Los Angeles ,California) is the daughter of Don Everly, and niece to Phil Everly from the Everly Brothers, and actress Venetia Stevenson. Her siblings are sister Stacy Everly and brother Edan Everly.  and Celia Durkin went a combined 54-6 in singles play and the No. 2 doubles team of Amanda Fink and Cory Ceizler swept 18-0 as the top-ranked Coyotes (4-1, 3-0) roared past No. 2 Westlake (2-2, 2-1) in a Marmonte League The Marmonte League is a high school sports league primarily made up of schools from Ventura County. In girls' volleyball:

--Flintridge S.H. d. La Canada 3-0: Jillian Davis had 13 digs and 12 kills and Kacey Knauf and Kelly Smiland combined for another 17 digs as Flintridge Sacred Heart The Sacred Heart is a religious devotion to Jesus' physical heart as the representation of the divine love for humanity
