Against all but one tennis player in the Frontier League The Frontier League, based in Troy, Illinois, is a professional, independent baseball organization located in the Midwestern United States and Western Pennsylvania. It operates mostly in cities not served by Major or Minor League Baseball teams and is not affiliated with either. , the effort put forth Thursday by Dalya Perelman would have been good enough to win the league singles title.

Unfortunately for the Malibu sophomore, her opponent in the final was that one player, senior teammate Kelly Stewart.

After falling behind 2-0 in the championship pro-set, Stewart ran off seven games in a row on her way to an 8-3 victory and a fourth consecutive singles title at Pepperdine.

``In the beginning I was a little bit rusty because my other matches were a bit choppy and there weren't a lot of long rallies,'' said Stewart, who didn't drop a game in her first two victories.

Lisa Marie Smith (born December 5, 1968 in Piscataway Township, New Jersey), more commonly referred to as simply Lisa Marie, is an American model and actress.
 Kohrs and Casey Zweig won the doubles title with an 8-3 victory over Nordhoff of Ojai's Perry Johnson and Blair Johnston. It was the second consecutive doubles title for Zweig, who won the championship with her sister Megan last season.

FOOTHILL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS

--Burbank doubles up: Natalie Rafaelian and Lucy Youchkovets won the first all-Burbank doubles final in more than a decade by defeating Diane Grair and Summer Zapata 6-4, 6-0 at the Burbank Tennis Center.

Rafaelian and Youchkovets, who occupied Burbank's Nos. 2 and 3 singes spots for most of the season, didn't drop a set on their way to the title. The seniors lost in the final last season to Valencia's Alexa and Cassie Strange.

``As the tournament progressed, we got more and more comfortable,'' Youchkovets said. ``It just came down to trusting each other and knowing what the other person can do.''

Saugus' Nadia Sakhakorn had little trouble winning the singles title, defeating Cassie Strange 6-1, 6-0 in the final.

``(Cassie) played really well,'' said Sakhakorn, who followed the success of her older sister Yasaman, who won the title in 2001 and 2002. ``The match was really good. The scores might not have shown it, but it was close.''

--Amringe, again: La Canada sophomore Lindsay Van Amringe repeated as league doubles champion, this time with freshman partner Valerie Chen, as they defeated San Marino's Joyce Chen Joyce Chen (September 14, 1917 - August 23, 1994) was a Chinese chef, restauranteur, and entrepreneur. Born in Beijing, China, Chen and husband Thomas left Shanghai, China in 1949 as Communists were taking over the country. Chen settled in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  and Jennifer Chiu 6-4, 6-3 at Live Oak Park in Temple City.

Van Amringe, who won the title with Lana Sanfilippo last season, and Chen defeated Temple City's Ginny Ng and Jennifer Young 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 in the semifinals.

In the United States of America, Notre Dame  3-2: Flintridge Sacred Heart of La Canada knew the first undefeated Mission League season in program history wouldn't come without a fight, and that's exactly what it got against visiting Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks.

Flintridge Sacred Heart - the top-ranked team in the region - received 14 kills and 28 digs from senior outside hitter Kelly Smiland in a 23-25, 25-14, 25-13, 19-25, 15-7 victory, which kept Notre Dame (10-5, 6-4) in third place.

Katie Kriste had 12 kills and 20 digs, Rebecca Salvo had 11 kills and Sam Orlandini had 44 assists for Flintridge Sacred Heart (22-3, 10-0), which also established a program record for wins in a season.
