Grady's 269-77-6 career record is tied with Benny Pierce of Saratoga High (1961-94) for seventh place on the all-time state coaching victories list. In 2003, the Lions made an improbable run to the Division I championship, upsetting heavily favored teams like Los Alamitos along the way. ``That was a magical run,'' said Grady, who also won a title in 1990. According to sources, Loyola is likely to hire an in-house candidate.
