DAY IN SPORTS: LINDER, SLOTNICK QUALIFY FOR CITY DOUBLES FINAL.

Caryn Linder and Shannon Slotnick, who helped Granada Hills High go undefeated and win the City Section girls' team tennis title last month, advanced to the City doubles final Friday with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Highlanders teammates Robin Meselson and Michal Zeituni at Warner Tennis Center.

Linder and Slotnick are the only remaining area players after Jasmin Dao of Granada Hills lost in Friday's singles semifinals to Jessica Roland of Hollywood 6-1, 6-4 and Andrea Bleiden/Jennifer Steinberg of Granada Hills lost to Jennifer Lin/Setarah Safii of Palisades Palisades, cliffs along the west bank of the Hudson River, NE N.J. and SE N.Y., extending from N of Jersey City, N.J., to the vicinity of Piermont, N.Y., with a general altitude of from 350 ft to 550 ft (107–168 m).  in another doubles semifinal.

Linder/Slotnick face Lin/Safii for the doubles title Monday at Warner Tennis Center, where Roland will face Yelena Oishanskaya of Fairfax for the singles title. Oishanskaya advanced with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 win over Judith De Vera of Carson.

In girls' water polo water polo, swimming game encompassing features of soccer, football, basketball, and hockey. The object of the game is to maneuver, by head, feet, or hand, a leather-covered ball 27 to 28 in. :

Royal advances: Alie Keegan's goal with 1:20 to play gave Royal a 3-2 win over La Canada at Newbury Park High, advancing the Highlanders (5-3) to the championship bracket. Royal, which trailed 2-1 at the half, tied on Jessica Nantroup's goal one minute into the third quarter. La Canada missed opportunities to take the lead in the final quarter when three Spartans shots hit the crossbar. Royal goalie Jennifer Sheehan had five saves.

Jeanine Jackson scored eight goals, Courtney Quinn and Palmoa Slezak had three goals each and goalkeepers Melissa Lo and Carolyn Kifer had five saves apiece to lead Harvard-Westlake (4-2) to a 20-1 win over Morro Bay.

Patton sparks Hart: Amanda Patton scored 19 points to lead Hart (3-2) past Santa Clara Santa Clara, city, Cuba

Pressure defense by Camarillo (2-2) produced 25 turnovers, 13 steals and 18 fast-break points against Highland (4-6) in a 48-28 win led by Leshelle Sargent's 11 points, five rebounds four assists and a steal; Buena (3-0), led by Kelly Greathouse's 24 points, went on an 18-4 second-half run en route to a 76-39 win over Newbury Park (2-1), which got 10 points and five rebounds from Nancy Pabon.

 had 28 points, 10 steals and 14 rebounds for her fourth triple-double of the season to lead Montclair Prep past Providence 44-38 in the third-place game of the Calvary Chapel Calvary Chapel is a non-denominational, Protestant fellowship of churches which began in 1965 in Southern California.  sparks Tigers: Jose Montes offset the absence of fellow football player Steve Nevarez (on a recruiting trip to Oregon and San Diego State) with 27 points and 11 rebounds and Maike Hernandez added 25 points in San Fernando's 67-58 nonleague win over Hollywood, helping Tigers coach Oscar Mesta get his first coaching win over his alma mater.

Mounties win: Josiah Johnson had 17 points and 12 rebounds, Jesse Bronner added 16 points and Will Sheslow scored 15 to lead Montclair Prep (4-0) to a 68-60 win over La Salle (3-1) and into the championship game of the Montclair Prep tournament. The Mounties will face Price (3-0), a 58-51 winner over Notre Dame (3-1), which lost Cody Pearson to injury in the first quarter. Mike Luderer led Notre Dame with 21 points.

In men's basketball:

Vaqueros, again: Clayton Powdrill scored 21 points and Ryan Abrahams added 15 to lead Glendale College (8-3) past El Camino 79-69 in a nonconference game at El Camino (4-7).
