DAY IN SPORTS: LANCASTER WINS GOLDEN AGAIN.

Lancaster High's rebuilding year didn't last long.

As a result of a 72-62 victory over visiting Littlerock - combined with Highland of Palmdale's 70-66 loss to Quartz quartz, one of the commonest of all rock-forming minerals and one of the most important constituents of the earth's crust. Chemically, it is silicon dioxide, SiO2.  Hill - the Eagles' boys' basketball team, which returned just one player, won a share of their third consecutive Golden League title Friday.

``We wanted to come out stronger and play harder than just any other team,'' Lancaster senior guard Derek Snider said. ``We wanted to come out and win (league) for the third year in a row; we shared it, and that's not that good, but it's good enough.''

James Bolden scored 14 points for Lancaster (13-10, 7-3) and Snider added 13.

Highland (14-10, 7-3), which beat Lancaster twice during the regular season, will enter the playoffs as a higher seed.

In other boys' basketball:

--Monroe 69, Sylmar 63: Dawin Whiten had 14 points and 14 rebounds as host Monroe of North Hills won a share of the Valley Mission League title. Dylan Young had 14 points and Rolando Nunez added 12 as Monroe (16-5, 9-1) finished tied for the league title with Sylmar.

Chris Booker had 18 points for Sylmar.

In girls' soccer

--El Camino Real 1, Granada Hills 0: Katie Oakes scored the game's lone goal in the 58th minute, her 19th of the season, to give host El Camino Real El Camino Real (Spanish for The Royal Road or The King's Highway) was the name of a series of pre-automobile highways linking the various New World colonies of Spain:

In boys' soccer:

--Grant 3, Hollywood 1: With two goals, senior Johny Amaya A combination Web browser and HTML editor from the W3C. It is considered an experimental product similar to its Jigsaw Web server. Amaya supports multiple views that are synchronized, the PNG graphics format, XHTML and the construction of complex mathematical formulas.  tied his own single-season school record of 25 for Grant of Van Nuys (17-1-5, 8-0-2), which clinched the Sunset Six League title with the road victory.

--Paraclete 3, Valley Christian 1: Tim Lanski scored two goals and added an assist as visiting Paraclete of Lancaster (19-5-1, 6-2) won the Olympic League title, the Spirits' first after moving from the Alpha League, where it won the title the past three seasons.
