Ready or not, the Marmonte League The Marmonte League is a high school sports league primarily made up of schools from Ventura County. The Marmonte Leauge is part of the CIF Southern Section. Click here to view the league schedule.  softball race is on.

Mandy Kilionski pitched a one-hitter and struck out 11 batters Tuesday as No. 4 Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  (3-0) defeated No. 3 Royal of Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  1-0 at Thousand Oaks.

It was only the third game of the year for both teams but could be significant considering the teams tied for first place in league last year.

Megan Spehar led off the bottom of the fourth with a single and scored the game-winning run on Chelsea Berthiaume's triple to right.

--Highland 390, Hart 401: Brandon Olsson earned medalist honors with a 2-over-par round of 74 at Antelope Valley Country Club for Highland of Palmdale (8-0) in its nonleague victory over Hart of Newhall (10-2).

In boys' tennis:

--Calabasas 12, Westlake 6: No. 3 singles player Allen Lee dropped just one game for Calabasas (6-0), which remained undefeated in six games this season with the Marmonte League victory over visiting Westlake.

Westlake's Ben Steensland, hampered by an elbow injury, played two sets and then defaulted to the Coyotes' No. 1 player, Gary Sacks.
