DAY IN SPORTS: KENNEDY WIN FORCES 3-WAY TIE.

There should be no question that Kennedy High of Granada Hills has the hottest boys' basketball team in the Valley Mission League after its 78-39 romp Friday over visiting Sylmar.

But the league champion will not be known until today, when coin flips will be used to break up a three-team logjam log·jam

Robert Valentine scored 21 points to lead the Cougars as Kevin Kanemura beat Sylmar for the first time in six seasons in six seasons as Kennedy coach.

In other boys basketball:

--Monroe 87, San Fernando 73: Brandon James scored 21 points with 10 rebounds and Ronaldo Nunez made seven 3-pointers and scored 23 points for visiting Monroe.

Justin Ridder and Stuart Marroquin each added 15 points for the winners.

GIRLS' BASKETBALL

SUNSET SIX

--Grant 59, Hollywood 43: Mallory Flot had 11 points, five assists and five steals as Grant of Van Nuys clinched the league title with a win over visiting Hollywood.

Mariam Asaryan scored 17 points and Andrea Chavez added 14 for Grant (20-3, 10-0), which finished second last season.

VALLEY MISSION

--Sylmar 80, Kennedy 31: Seyram Gbewonyo scored 20 points with nine steals as Sylmar defeated visiting Kennedy of Granada Hills (0-10 in league).

Sylmar (16-8, 10-0), which has won 40 consecutive league games over four seasons, also got strong efforts from LaShay Fears (11 points, seven steals) and Ilda Llamas (17 points, eight rebounds.)

GIRLS' SOCCER

MARMONTE

--Royal 4, Calabasas 0: Senior Lauren Faerber scored twice and Jeanine McDonall and Jessie Zuehlsdorf added goals as Royal of Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  (16-3-5, 8-2-4) earned a share of its first league title since 1989 with the victory at Newbury Park.

Royal, which tied with Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  (13-3-2, 9-3-2), will enter the Southern Section Div. II playoffs as the league's No. 1 entry. Westlake (12-3-4, 8-3-3), which had won the past six league titles, will be the No. 3 entry.

TRI-VALLEY

--Oak Park 2, Bishop Diego 0: Tatiana Camacho and Melanie Gaball scored on assists from Sam Stoll and Amy Nevers as Oak Park (14-6-3, 9-1) claimed its sixth consecutive league title.

A makeup date for CSUN's home opener Friday against UCLA has not been determined, but today's game in the series - at Jackie Robinson Stadium - has been pushed back to 6 p.m. Sunday's series finale will begin at 1 p.m. at CSUN CSUN California State University Northridge .

Pepperdine plans to make up its game against visiting Cal Poly as part of a doubleheader Sunday at 10 a.m.

USC's game against Long Beach State was rescheduled for May 25.
