DAY IN SPORTS: INDIANS CAN'T STAY AFLOAT IN TRI-MEET.

Byline: Daily News

The Hart High of Newhall boys' swim team arguably has its strongest squad ever, but even that wasn't good enough against Colorado's best.

The Indians couldn't quite match up in a tri-meet against Regis Jesuit of Colorado, losing 86-68 Saturday afternoon at Loyola High in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. .

Loyola, the other team at the meet, finished third with 31 points.

Hart (3-1) is favored to win its first-ever Southern Section Division II title this year with several veteran seniors on its roster. However, Regis Jesuit (2-0), the nine-time defending Colorado state champions who have finished in the top three nationally every year since 1993, had a little too much depth for the Indians to overcome.

Hart managed to take first place in seven events, with Kent Klawer, Mike Linn linn

and David Deloria each winning two individual events. Regis Jesuit, though, took second and third place in several events to hold on for the victory.

``I'm a little disappointed,'' Hart coach Steve Neale said, ``but when your swimmers perform as good as they can, there's not much more you can ask for.''
