Caitlyn assisted two of Hannah's goals, and Kelsea Smith also scored as the Lions (6-1-2) handed Crescenta Valley (2-6-2) its fifth loss in eight days.

``I think we're going into the (holiday) break much better than we did last year,'' said Caitlyn MacKechnie, who has three assists this season. ``We've struggled a little bit with being strong inside the box, but I knew Hannah was capable of finishing.''

Hannah MacKechnie, who has scored four goals with four assists this season said: ``We've shown we can stick with anybody. I think we've gotten a lot better since the beginning of the season.''

Rachael Rigamat and Angie Vossmeyer scored goals for Crescenta Valley, both on assists from Sydney Vermillion.

Fifth place

--Louisville 2, Santa Ynez 0: Leslie Gomez scored both goals - her third and fourth this season - as Louisville of Woodland Hills (6-2-2) recorded its region-leading sixth shutout at Buena.

Louisville, ranked No. 9 by the Daily News, continued to win despite the absence of Northwestern-bound forward Jenny Dunn.
