DAY IN SPORTS: HOOVER TAKES THE `BIG GAME'.

The Hoover High boys' basketball team has bragging rights throughout Glendale after its 65-58 Pacific League victory Thursday night over rival Glendale.

Haik Stepanyan led the visiting Tornadoes (10-16, 2-8) with 24 points. Teammates Fred Akopyan had 17 points and eight rebounds and Vram Ismailyan added 12 points and nine rebounds.

Hermie Nicolas scored 13 points for the Dynamiters (10-15, 3-7).

--Quartz Hill 5, Lancaster 1: Laura Weiss, Shauna Cabriales, Andrea Cabriales, Alisha Basett and Kelli Cox each scored a goal as the Rebels remained undefeated in Golden League play (18-2-1, 10-0).

--Valencia 5, Burbank 0: The host Vikings (18-3-2, 7-2-1) won the Foothill League title behind goals from Melanie Ervin, Danielle Malkowski, Courtney Morgan, Jessica Riskind and Kim Wood.

In boys' soccer:

--El Camino Real 4, Taft 0: Zack Feldman, Ori Adrabi, Yan Falkinstein and Darren Ross each scored for the top-ranked Conquistadores of Woodland Hills (22-3, 9-1), who clinched the West Valley League title with the home victory.
