DAY IN SPORTS: HART UPSETS D.C. GIANT, FACES NO. 1 PIEDMONT.

Ashlee Trebilcock scored 27 points and pulled down 10 rebounds Monday as Hart High of Newhall upset nationally ranked St. John's of Washington, D.C., at the Nike Tournament of Champions girls basketball tournament in Chandler, Ariz.

Hart's 62-57 overtime triumph in a White Division opener, against a team ranked 10th in the nation by Student Sports, sets up a meeting this afternoon with nationally top-ranked Piedmont Piedmont, region, Italy

Hart, ranked No. 1 in the area by the Daily News, led by as many as 13 points in the third quarter. Brittany Mitch, who will play next year at Duke, and Marissa Coleman (Maryland) led a fourth-quarter St. John's rally to tie the score at 51 at the end of regulation.

Samantha Miles scored in the seventh minute for Taft (11-0-1), which had outscored its previous opponents 53-9. Hamilton answered late in the first half but was shut down in the second half by goalkeeper Sahar Ghaemi, who made seven saves.

Ghaemi made three more stops in the shootout, and Lauren Yoshizuka, Jessika Romero and Hannah Sasson converted their penalty kicks to give Taft the win.
