Some teams might celebrate, or take time to enjoy achieving a goal set at the beginning of the season. But not the Wolverines (19-1, 7-0), who traveled to Northern California Northern California, sometimes referred to as NorCal, is the northern portion of the U.S. state of California. ``Our league is competitive, but there's great competition in this tournament,'' said Harvard-Westlake coach Rich Corso, whose team defeated Menlo of Palo Alto Palo Alto, city, California

Harvard-Westlake is the top-ranked team in Southern Section Div. I and is ranked No. 2 in the state and country by the U.S. Water Polo Association. But for all their success, a state title remains elusive. The team has yet to win in each of its previous 10 trips, its best finish being third in 1993.

``It's a showcase of the best,'' Corso said. ``We're allowed to play in three tournaments a year, and this is a tournament where all of the college coaches come to see the kids play.''

Things don't get easier for Harvard-Westlake upon its return home. The Wolverines hope to avenge a·venge
