DAY IN SPORTS: H.-W. HAS OUTBURST OF GOALS.

Barbara Gruska scored four goals and Claire Hofbauber had three Thursday as Harvard-Westlake High defeated Bonita 9-0 in girls' field hockey.

Miri Stucker also scored twice for the Wolverines (1-1), who are the only area team playing the sport this season.

Lower and lower: Undefeated La Reina improved to 3-0 with its lowest score of the Southern Section's inaugural season of girls' high school golf, defeating Alemany 132-186 at Los Robles.

Jennifer Marshall (2-over-par 37), Tralee Tralee (trəlē`, trā–), town (1991 pop. 17,862), seat of Co. Kerry, SW Republic of Ireland, on the Lee River. It is a seaport linked with Blennerville on Tralee Bay by a 1-mi-long (1.6-km) canal. Boots, shoes, knitwear, and plastics are produced, and there is a tannery. Tourism is also economically important. O'Hanlon (47) and Susanne Dunwell (48) scored for the Regents, who had totaled 134 in their second match after opening the season with a 144-point total last week. Courtney Carr shot 56 to lead Alemany (1-2).

In other girls' golf, Becca Norris shot 45 and Kim Martin 46 to lead Thousand Oaks (2-1) to a 142-162 Marmonte League win over Newbury Park at Sunset Hills GS. Julie McKenna shot 47 for the previously undefeated Panthers (2-1).

Big Sky sunset: Kim Exner had a match-high 21 kills to lead undefeated Eastern Washington (6-0, 1-0) to a 15-7, 15-2, 15-4 sweep of Cal State Northridge (4-3, 0-1) in a Big Sky Conference women's volleyball opener at Cheney, Wash.

Laura Symanski had 19 kills and a .441 hitting percentage for Northridge.

Gunnin' Rebels: Matt Klekner scored a game-high eight goals to lead Flintridge Prep (4-2) to a 16-7 nonleague boys' water polo win over Burbank.

Other top efforts included Kevin Witt of Glendale (nine goals and 16 steals) in a 21-7 nonleague win over Long Beach Poly. Glendale goalie Ben Lee had 11 saves in the season-opening win.

Coyotes worth a howl: Undefeated Calabasas won 17 sets by scores of 6-0 and another by 6-1 in sweeping Alemany 18-0 in a nonleague girls' tennis match. The No. 3 doubles team of Shervin Saedinia and Vanessa Everly lost just three points in its sweep as the Coyotes (3-0) dropped Alemany to 0-1.

Pioneers perfect: Singles player Katie Franklin and the doubles teams of Margo O'Donnell-Rebecca Hunau and Andrea Espinoza-Stella Chu all swept without losing a game as undefeated Simi Valley (4-0, 1-0) welcomed Moorpark (0-2, 0-1) to Marmonte League girls' tennis with an 18-0 romp.

Shutout for Kingsmen: Matt Romeo scored twice and Jeremy Creed once as Cal Lutheran defeated UC Santa Cruz 3-0 to improve to 2-3 in men's soccer.

Vikings roll: Sara Foster had 10 kills and Jennifer Edwards contributed 22 assists to lead Valencia to a 15-7, 15-11, 15-9 nonleague girls' volleyball win over Lancaster.

Warriors stay perfect: Nina Yaftali and Audra Dickey both swept as the Warriors improved to 3-0 with a 13-5 girls' tennis win over Santa Barbara.

Highlanders win: Courtney Guera had six kills and Michaela Skelly added 10 assists to lead Royal (2-1, 2-0) to a 15-12, 15-11, 15-2 Marmonte League girls' volleyball win over Newbury Park (0-2).

In other area volleyball matches, Brooke Nils had 19 kills and Sarah Postler 35 assists to lead Calabasas (4-0) to a 15-8, 15-4, 17-15 sweep of L.A. Baptist (0-2), and Megan Hosp had 10 kills and four aces and Sarah Skeehan 10 kills as Flintridge Sacred Heart (3-0) defeated Mayfield 15-5, 15-5, 15-6.

Also in girls' volleyball, Marcie Hollis had 10 kills and Lindsey McPhail 30 assists to lead Hart (2-1) past Quartz Hill 15-7, 15-8, 15-4; Jenna Howard had eight kills and four aces and Valerie Eliaser 20 assists to lead undefeated Milken (3-0) past Montclair Prep 15-1, 15-9, 15-8; and Colleen Hamlin had 22 kills and 15 digs and Darcy Pollan 44 assists as Louisville (2-1) defeated St. Bonaventure 15-11, 3-15, 15-11, 15-8.
