The top-seeded Harvard-Westlake High of Studio City girls' soccer team was backed into a corner it could not get out of Friday.

Visiting Los Alamitos (15-6-3) scored three of its four goals off corner kicks to stun the Wolverines 4-1 in a Southern Section Division I first-round playoff game.

Trailing 1-0, Tracy Lansing floated a shot over Jenny Frisk in the 38th minute, scoring the lone goal for Harvard-Westlake (15-2-5), which had won two consecutive Division IV co-championships and was playing in its first Division I playoff game.

In other girls' soccer:

--Saugus 2, Crescenta Valley 1: Rachel Gillis headed in a corner kick from Jocelyn Hein and Amanda Hernandez also scored on a header from Hein as Saugus (16-7-2) won the Division II game.

--Village Christian 5, Burroughs/R 0: Jessica Gordon scored three goals and Christa Peevyhouse and Lindsey McDaris each added one as host Village Christian of Sun Valley (20-3-2) won the Division V game.

--Chaminade 1, St. Joseph's 0: Loretta Younkin saved three out of five penalty kicks in the fourth overtime for host Chaminade of West Hills (17-6-2) in a Division I game.

In boys' basketball:

--Valencia 68, Peninsula 64: Scott Domingo scored 15 of his game-high 21 points in the third quarter, when host Valencia (22-5) erased a 17-point halftime deficit in one of the biggest comeback victories in school history in a Division I-AA game.

--Harvard-Westlake 84, Cabrillo 42: Bryce Taylor scored 22 points and had seven rebounds for host Harvard-Westlake (23-6) in the Division III-A victory.

--Calabasas 84, Temple City 72: Johnny Wilson scored a game-high 38 points and grabbed 14 rebound for host Calabasas (19-8) in a Division III-AA game.

--Saugus 44, Century 35: B.J. Willkomm scored a game-high 17 points for visiting Saugus (16-11) in the Division I-A game.

--Burroughs 54, Torrance 50: Peter St. Hubert and Joey Paysinger combined for 36 points and 15 rebounds in the Division II-A victory for visiting Burroughs of Burbank (13-14).

CITY SECTION PLAYOFFS

In boys' basketball:

--Cleveland 89, University 77: Nick Young scored 16 of his 38 points in the fourth quarter for host Cleveland of Reseda in the Championship bracket first-round victory.

In girls' basketball:

--Chatsworth 56, Fremont 47: Senior Summer Johnson had 25 points and teammate Alicia Bryant had 22 for host Chatsworth (19-6, 9-1), which will play Garfield of Los Angeles on Wednesday in a Championship bracket game.

In boys' soccer:

--Cleveland 2, Monroe 0: Ramon Rubio scored on a header in the seventh minute off a lob pass from Tony Castellanos lifting visiting Cleveland (11-4-2), seeded 22nd, to the upset victory in the Championship bracket over the 11th-seeded team from North Hills.

--El Camino Real 4, Bell 2: Justin Thomas scored two first-half goals as the two-time defending City Section champions opened the playoffs with a Championship bracket victory at home.

--San Fernando 5, Westchester 0: Ruby Maravilla scored two goals for visiting San Fernando (11-4-3), which will advance to play Grant of Van Nuys in a Championship bracket game Wednesday.

--Poly 3, Franklin 0: Senior Mauricio Arevalo had two goals and goalkeeper Jorge Maldonado had six saves for Poly of Sun Valley (7-5-3) in a Championship bracket victory.

--Chatsworth 1, Foshay 0: Edward Carrion scored in the second half for host Chatsworth (8-3-6) in a Championship bracket victory on the road.
