The top-seeded Harvard-Westlake High of Studio City girls' soccer team was backed into a corner it could not get out of Friday.

--Saugus 2, Crescenta Valley The Crescenta Valley is a small inland valley in Los Angeles County, California. Its name derives from its crescent-like shape, with the convex portion facing roughly northeast and the concave portion southwest.  1: Rachel Gillis headed in a corner kick from Jocelyn Hein and Amanda Hernandez also scored on a header from Hein as Saugus (16-7-2) won the Division II game.

--Village Christian 5, Burroughs/R 0: Jessica Gordon scored three goals and Christa Peevyhouse and Lindsey McDaris each added one as host Village Christian of Sun Valley (20-3-2) won the Division V game.

--Chaminade 1, St. Joseph's 0: Loretta Younkin saved three out of five penalty kicks in the fourth overtime for host Chaminade of West Hills (17-6-2) in a Division I game.

In boys' basketball:

--Valencia 68, Peninsula 64: Scott Domingo scored 15 of his game-high 21 points in the third quarter, when host Valencia (22-5) erased e·rase

--Harvard-Westlake 84, Cabrillo 42: Bryce Taylor Bryce Taylor is an American college basketball player at the University of Oregon. The 6'5", 205 pound junior guard is currently averaging 14.6 ppg and 5.1 rpg. High School  scored 22 points and had seven rebounds for host Harvard-Westlake (23-6) in the Division III-A victory.

--Calabasas 84, Temple City 72: Johnny Wilson

 scored a game-high 38 points and grabbed 14 rebound for host Calabasas (19-8) in a Division III-AA game.

--Saugus 44, Century 35: B.J. Willkomm scored a game-high 17 points for visiting Saugus (16-11) in the Division I-A game.

--Burroughs 54, Torrance 50: Peter St. Hubert and Joey Paysinger combined for 36 points and 15 rebounds in the Division II-A victory for visiting Burroughs of Burbank (13-14).

CITY SECTION PLAYOFFS

In boys' basketball:

--Cleveland 89, University 77: Nick Young scored 16 of his 38 points in the fourth quarter for host Cleveland of Reseda in the Championship bracket first-round victory.

In girls' basketball:

--Chatsworth 56, Fremont 47: Senior Summer Johnson had 25 points and teammate Alicia Bryant had 22 for host Chatsworth (19-6, 9-1), which will play Garfield of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  on Wednesday in a Championship bracket game.

In boys' soccer:

--Cleveland 2, Monroe 0: Ramon Rubio scored on a header in the seventh minute off a lob (1) See BLOB.
