Taft High of Woodland Hills' Jordan Farmar Jordan Robert Farmar (born November 30, 1986) is an American professional basketball player at starting point guard for the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers.

He was previously the starting point guard for the UCLA men's basketball team.

The senior guard scored on a layup and made a 3-pointer, keying an 11-0 first-half run for Taft (13-2).

--Loyola 72, Harvard-Westlake 55: Bryce Taylor Bryce Taylor is an American college basketball player at the University of Oregon. The 6'5", 205 pound junior guard is currently averaging 14.6 ppg and 5.1 rpg. High School , who averages more than 20 points, scored 12 for the second time in two games as Harvard-Westlake of Studio City (8-6, 1-1) lost on the road.

In the United States of America, Notre Dame  92, Alemany 84: Orlando Baeza scored 32 points for Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks (9-5, 1-0), which outscored its opponent by 17 points in the third quarter to win at home.

Nonleague

--Monroe 63, Grant 51: With the host Grant of Van Nuys defense geared toward stopping Dawin Whiten, the floor opened up for Brandon James, who scored 32 points for Monroe of North Hills (9-5).

--Royal 74 Calabasas 42: Kelly Winther (17 points, seven assists, five steals), Cassie Suffolk (19 points, seven rebounds, four blocks) and Valerie Quinn (13 points, four assists.) each contributed for Royal of Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  (13-2, 1-0) in a league opener at home.

Nonleague

--Hart 62, Crescenta Valley The Crescenta Valley is a small inland valley in Los Angeles County, California. Its name derives from its crescent-like shape, with the convex portion facing roughly northeast and the concave portion southwest.  44: Taylor Lilley and Ashlee Trebilcock scored 18 points and 17 points, respectively, for visiting Hart of Newhall (14-1). Crescenta Valley of La Crescenta's Jeanine Deno scored 16 points.

Mission League

--Harvard-Westlake 4, Chaminade 0: Striker Jamie Artsis scored three goals for the second time this season as visiting Harvard-Westlake of Studio City (6-2, 1-0) beat Chaminade of West Hills (6-2-2, 0-1), which it tied for the league title last season.

``This is the best we've played this season,'' the Michigan-bound Artsis said. ``We put passes together well, we defended. We dominated this game.''

Artsis scored her goal first fewer than 10 minutes into the game after she intercepted a throw-in. Her second came on a blast from outside of the 18-yard box and her third was a putback with 24:30 remaining.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL Women's basketball is one of the few games which developed in tandem with men's. It became popular, spreading from the east coast of the United States to the west coast, in large part via women's colleges.  

Western State Conference

--Canyons 70, Valley 49: College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  did not play its best game, but the visiting Cougars (12-4, 1-0) did take a step forward by routing the three-time defending Western State Conference champion.

``There's a lot of stuff between us and Valley,'' said Saugus High graduate Jessi Loring, who scored 19 points. ``We had to come out and beat them for conference. One down, 11 more to go.''

Teammate Linnae Barber (Chatsworth) scored 16 points. Tiffaney Maddox scored 18 for Valley (9-8).
