DAY IN SPORTS: FAITH BAPTIST HOLDS ON TO WIN.

Henry Chung hit four critical late free throws and shared the team scoring lead with 14 points Thursday night to help visiting Faith Baptist of Canoga Park retain a share of the Heritage League boys' basketball lead with a 60-57 win over L.A. Lutheran of Sylmar.

Johnny Case added 14 points, Ramsey Zahr scored 12 and Areg Ohanian 11 as the Contenders (6-9, 5-1) stayed even with Grace Brethren of Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969. . Kevin Hirata scored 17 and Tony Park 16 for L.A. Lutheran.

In other boys' basketball:

--Chaminade 70, Alemany 64: Marcus Everett scored 25 points, including three 3-pointers, and Adrian Aye'Darko had four 3-pointers in an 18-point effort to lead the Eagles of West Hills (16-5, 5-2) past the Indians of Mission Hills in a Mission League game at Chaminade.

In girls' soccer:

--Chatsworth 3, Taft 0: Berenice Vasquez, Lindsey Redlin and Jenna Fodor scored and Sydney Sterk had two saves to earn the shutout Not to be confused with Shootout.
