Crespi of Encino nearly pulled off a huge upset Thursday night, but Sean Conway's 34-yard field-goal attempt was wide left with 30 seconds remaining, enabling St. Bonaventure of Ventura to escape with a 29-27 nonleague victory at Ventura High School Ventura High School is a secondary school located in Ventura, California.  Randall Harris returned a kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown, giving Crespi a 7-6 lead. Harris and quarterback Matt Wabby then added rushing touchdowns of 44 and 1 yards to put Crespi up 21-12 midway through the second quarter.

Matt Lee had a huge game for St. Bonaventure (4-1), rushing for 164 yards on 30 carries, including touchdown runs of 2, 9 and 1 yards.

Jeremy Licea's 40-yard field goal with 7:50 remaining proved to be the difference, giving St. Bonaventure its 72nd win in its last 75 games.

Harris finished with 165 on 21 carries. His 1-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter gave Crespi its final lead of the game at 27-26.

St. Bonaventure quarterback Matt Evans completed 17 of 24 passes for 149 yards and threw two interceptions.

St. Bonaventure is looking to advance to its sixth consecutive Southern Section Div. IV championship game and win its fifth title.
