Byline: Daily News

Kate Carpenter had 12 points and 13 rebounds and three of her Cal Lutheran University teammates also scored in double figures Thursday night as the undefeated Regals improved to 6-0 with a 67-59 women's basketball nonconference win over visiting Chapman.

It was the 12th straight home-court victory for CLU, dating to last season, and the 21st win in 23 starts for the Regals. They got 12 points from Anna Lindseth, 12 points and four blocked shots from Missy Rider and 13 points from Katie Placido against the Panthers (6-2).

In boys' basketball:

Spartans step it up: La Canada, a traditional area power that opened the season with back-to-back losses, evened its season record at 3-3 with a 64-56 win over San Gabriel to earn a berth in the championship game of the Arroyo tournament semifinals.

Ian Sullivan scored 17 points to lead the Spartans, who will face Nogales for the title.

In another Arroyo tournament game, Montclair Prep (2-2) got 10 points and 13 rebounds from Josiah Johnson but lost a 52-41 decision to Keppel (3-2), which got 19 points from Peter Wang.

Knights advance: Shaun Scranton scored 17 points and Jeff Brown 10 as St. Francis (2-0) scored a 47-37 win over previously undefeated San Marino (4-1) to reach the semifinals of the Pasadena tournament.

The Golden Knights face La Salle tonight at 6 at Pasadena High.

Patriots bounced: Dan Roy and Nick McKay scored 23 points apiece in a losing effort for Viewpoint, as the Patriots fell victim to a second straight triple-digit scoring performance by Price, which won 103-67 to advance in the Laguna Blanca tournament.

Michael Lynch had 33 points and Jermaine Jamiston 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Knights (4-0), who defeated North County Christian 103-59 on Wednesday.

In girls' basketball:

De-fense: Highland Hall set a school record by limiting visiting Shalhevet to one point in the first half of a 36-33 nonleague win. Brittany Kay scored 11 and Sadie Phillips 11 to lead the Hawks, who held on in the second half as the Firehawks closed with a 34-22 run when Highland Hall got into foul trouble.

Indians hang on: Hart lost most of a 20-point fourth-quarter lead but advanced in Buena tournament play with a 53-45 win over Santa Clara. Birana Kentfield scored 16 points and Christina Sanchez 13 for the Indians (2-1).

Monarchs roll: Maricela Rodriguez scored 16 points, Tynisha Howze 14 and Patricia Nuno 14, as Valley College defeated Mt. San Antonio 73-58 in the Valley Tournament.

The Monarchs, who led 37-29 at halftime, improved to 6-2.

Roberts, again: Grace Brethren multi-sport star Crystal Roberts scored 21 points to lead Grace Brethren (2-1) past Carpinteria 42-37 and into the championship game of the Nordhoff tournament.

Alex Gubser added 10 points for the Lancers, who outscored the Warriors 16-8 in the final period, when Roberts scored 10 points. Grace Brethren faces Marmonte League entry Agoura in the final.

Wolverines roll on: Harvard-Westlake, coming off a win over traditional area power North Hollywood on Monday, improved to 4-1 with a 77-49 win over St. Joseph's in the Nordhoff tournament.

Omelogo Udeze led the Wolverines with 29 points and 10 rebounds, and Rolake Bamgbose added 10 points as the winners outlasted good scoring balance by St. Joseph's (7-2), which finished with four players in double figures.

Hinojosa leads Musketeers: Pepperdine-bound Demaris Hinojosa totaled 21 points, 12 rebounds and five assists to lead Moorpark (4-0) past Rio Mesa 55-42 in the Gold Coast tournament.

Kelly Geis added 15 points for Moorpark, which forged a 29-16 halftime lead, then held off a late 23-15 charge by the Spartans.

Pioneers bounce back: Simi Valley, denied a first-round win in the St. Lucy's tournament when Eisenhower's Jamera Webber hit a 3-point basket in the final six seconds of a one-point game, regrouped to defeat Pomona 59-24 and improve to 4-1.

Jamie Sturdivand scored 12 points and Molly Little 11 for the Pioneers, who dropped Pomona to 1-2.
