DAVID FRIEDSON IS NEW CHAIRMAN OF WINDMERE CORPORATION

MIAMI LAKES, Fla., April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Windmere Corporation (NYSE: WND) today announced that David M. Friedson, the company's President and Chief Executive Officer, has also been named Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Friedson, 40, succeeds his father, Belvin Friedson, 71, who founded the Company and had been its Chairman since 1963. The elder Mr. Friedson will hold the title of Chairman Emeritus.

David Friedson has served as Windmere's Chief Executive Officer since January 1987 and President since January 1985. From January 1985 to January 1987, Mr. Friedson served as Windmere's Chief Operating Officer and prior to that held various other management positions after joining the company in 1976.
