Born Marjorie Ruth Mayberry in Detroit, Mich., she attended high school in Chicago, Ill., before moving to Pasadena, Calif. in 1943. In California, Marjorie met Charles D. Vincent, Jr., a disabled veteran who served in World War II. They married in November 1944. During their marriage of more than 59 years, Marjorie and Charles parented and raised three daughters. Marjorie was also a retired federal government employee who served as a supervisor in the administrative offices of the U.S. Civil Service Commission. Marjorie joined the DAV Auxiliary on March 17, 1957. She served in all of her Unit offices and a variety of elected and appointed offices in the DAV Auxiliary State Department of California, including Department Commander for the 1969-70 membership year. At the DAV Auxiliary national level, Marjorie served as the Auxiliary Chairman for the DAV and Auxiliary National Conventions held sit California in 1970 and 1983. She was also elected Auxiliary 4th Jr. Vice Commander at the 1970 National Convention in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. . She was elected National 2nd Jr. Vice Commander in 1973 and held that office for two terms, followed by consecutive elected terms as 1st Jr. Vice Commander and Senior Vice Commander prior to being elected Auxiliary National Commander at the 1977 National Convention in Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. Marjorie was also a dedicated Auxiliary volunteer and served as the DAV Auxiliary VA Voluntary Service Representative at Wadsworth VA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
