DATASTREAM APPOINTS U.S. VP OF CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT

 MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Datastream International, a London-based subsidiary of Primark Corporation (NYSE, PSE: PMK), today announced the appointment of Ira Herenstein to the newly created position of vice president, corporate development in New York.
 Herenstein, formerly president of Standard & Poor's Corporation, will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities for Datastream in the U.S. financial information services market.
 "Ira will be a valuable asset to our U.S. initiatives," said Tony Helman, Datastream's managing director. "He possesses the unique qualifications, experience and expertise that will help accelerate Datastream's growth and development in the U.S. market."

 In addition to serving as president of Standard & Poor's, Herenstein spent 28 years at McGraw-Hill/Standard & Poor's. His accomplishments include implementation of many well known and successful financial products including CUSIP, COMPUSTAT, Blue List Bond Ticker, Index Trading Vehicles and MarketScope. Previously, he was founder and chairman of Standard & Poor's Securities, one of the leading "soft dollar" brokerage firms in the United States.
