 DATA SWITCH ELECTS TWO SENIOR VICE PRESIDENTS
 SHELTON, Conn., Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Data Switch Corporation


(NASDAQ: DASW) today announced the appointment of William McSweeney and Carl Southard as officers of the corporation.
 McSweeney is now senior vice president of product management, strategy, and planning, with responsibility for developing and implementing market, product, and business strategy and for managing new product direction and product life-cycle planning. Southard is senior vice president of systems development, in charge of product engineering for the data processing and data communications divisions.
 "Data Switch must not only meet customer requirements today but also respond efficiently to future demand and keep pace with technology advances," said Data Switch President and Chief Executive Officer J. Roger Moody. "Mr. McSweeney and Mr. Southard will be instrumental in enabling Data Switch to meet customer needs in a timely manner by expediting product development and shortening time to market. Both men have had very successful track records in managing their respective functions at both established and entrepreneurial companies, and we look forward to the benefits of their expertise."
 McSweeney served most recently as vice president of product management for Coordination Technology, Inc. (CTI), a software company. He joined CTI after a 14-year career with AT&T, where his positions included product management vice president for AT&T's Data Systems Group and marketing vice president for its Computer Systems Division. Earlier, McSweeney was employed by Litton Industries, where he had worldwide responsibility for product and market planning for point-of- sale systems.
 Southard had a 27-year career in engineering at IBM, which culminated in the senior engineering management post in charge of developing data terminal product lines. Subsequently, he founded Terminal Communications, which produced IBM-compatible terminals. After Southard sold the company to United Technologies, he remained president of the subsidiary. Southard has served as a consultant in technology management to IBM, AT&T, CBS, Teletype Corporation, and Western Electric.
