DAOU awarded contract to develop leading-edge network.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 12, 1996--Atlantic Health System of New Jersey has awarded DAOU Systems Inc. a $1 million contract to build a state-of-the-art enterprisewide network.

When completed the network will connect Morristown Morristown.

The contract, which represents the first phase of a more comprehensive project, calls for developing a consistent network backbone in the three separate hospitals.

This technology not only provides AHS with a strategic advantage, it also enables the organization to easily migrate to an asynchronous transfer mode See ATM.

Bob Ewaskiew, director, chief information officer for Morristown Memorial Hospital, said the wide-area network will provide AHS with many strategic advantages. "This will literally connect all organizations with an electronic highway that will improve communication dramatically. What takes days to send in paper form will take seconds electronically. This will ultimately improve the quality of health care to the community that we serve.

"In addition, the network is easily expandable, should we add more hospitals to the organization. And, finally, this is the first step in migrating to an ATM network once the traffic demands it."
