DANTE Upgrades Networks in Europe and Asia With Juniper Networks Routing Platforms; M-Series Multiservice Router Enables DANTE to Expand Cross-Regional IPv6 Research and Education Networks.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:JNPR) today announced that DANTE (Delivery of Advanced Network Technology to Europe) is deploying Juniper Networks M-series platforms to form the core of its second generation Trans-Eurasia Information Network (TEIN2), and its EUMEDCONNECT project. TEIN2 will extend research and education IP connectivity between the Europe and the Asia-Pacific regions, and the EUMEDCONNECT network serves the research and education communities of the Mediterranean region. The Juniper Networks routing platforms will provide advanced multicasting and IPv6 capabilities, enabling DANTE to improve the performance and reliability of both networks.

DANTE, established in 1993, is a non-profit organization established to plan, build and operate research and education networks. It was set up, and is owned, by a group of European National Research and Education Networks (NRENs). DANTE's TEIN2 project is a 622 Mbps network ring extending from Copenhagen to key Asian locations and back to Europe via Frankfurt. The topology is the second-generation of the infrastructure and will support advanced features such as IPv6 and multicasting, spanning Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, Japan and Korea.

TEIN2 and its peer Mediterranean and North African network, EUMEDCONNECT, connect to GEANT2, the pan-European research and education network, and provide research networking connectivity to NRENs in countries that previously had limited research networking connectivity.
