Daniel Hurley, 12, was overcome by solvents in the spray and collapsed in the bath at home. His father Robert tried to revive him but he died in hospital five days later. His dad told the hearing the youngster was proud of his appearance and was "lavish" in his use of deodorants and hair gels. He said: "He was always putting gel on his hair and spraying deodorant." In a similar incident three weeks earlier, Daniel, who was described as "fit and healthy", collapsed in the bathroom. But he recovered quickly. The schoolboy died in the Queen'sMedical Centre, in Nottingham, in January. Consultant pathologist Dr Andrew Hitchcock said: "There is a very reasonable assumption that the passive inhalation passive inhalation n. See passive smoking. of the solvent almost certainly led to his death." Coroner Dr Robert Hunter said the cause of death was "cardiac arrhythmia, exacerbated by exposure to solvents". But recording a verdict of accidental death, Dr Hunter warned: "I do not know how many people read the warnings. I looked here on line and seen what happened and called our family doctor and found that it has been the axe body spray she was spraying that has been making her very sick for the past 5 days.
