FALKIRK will hand a trial to Spanish keeper Dani Mallo this week.

The former Deportivo La Coruna player is keen to leave Sporting Braga after a nightmare spell in Portugal.

He will arrive in Scotland today and wants to impress Bairns boss John Hughes enough to land a contract.

Yogi is on the lookout for another goalie after Scott Flinders returned to Crystal Palace last week at the end of his loan spell.

Malo, who spent seven years at Deportivo, has sounded out Bairns star Arnau Riera about the move.

And after hearing good things from his fellow Spaniard he's keen to sign.

The 29-year-old said: "I have been free to leave Braga since the summer but my contract runs to 2009.

"I'm unhappy in Portugal and the chance to play in the SPL would be sensational.

"Being at Braga was possibly the worst experience of my career but I'm excited about going to Falkirk.

"Scotland is a country that lives for football and has so much passion.

"I have spoken with Riera and he has given the club an excellent reference.

"The challenge is to get back playing and maybe in a few years return to Spain."
