DANCE THEATRE OF HARLEM CELEBRATES THIRTY YEARS.NEW YORK CITY--"This is a very auspicious year for Dance Theatre of Harlem Dance Theatre of Harlem, the first black classical ballet company. The Soweto String Quartet The Soweto String Quartet is a string quartet from Soweto in South Africa comprising of Reuben Khemese, Makhosini Mnguni, Sandile Khemese and Thami Khemese. Their music is a fusion of the "dance rhythms of Kwela, the syncopated guitars of Mbaqanga, the saxophones and trumpets of from South Africa have been named artists in residence and will tour and perform with the company. In February, twenty-four students, aged nine to seventeen, from the DTH school went to Hong Kong to perform and study at the invitation of the Hong Kong Tourist Bureau to represent New York City during the celebration of the Asian New Year. "It is a true cultural exchange," said Mitchell. "We are sending teachers and students."
