The STARS Showteam consists of 64 dancers ranging in age from 6 to 18. In April, the STARS Showteam and Pre-Team competed at the California Regional Competition in Costa Mesa Costa Mesa (kŏs`tə mā`sə), city (1990 pop. 96,357), Orange co., S Calif., on the Pacific south of Santa Ana; inc. 1953. It is a transportation, residential, and light industrial center. , with the Showteam receiving 12 Superior awards, seven High-Point awards and three Excellent awards. The Pre-Team received four Superior awards, five Excellent awards and four High-Point awards. The Pre-Team also won Best Show with their routine ``Material Girls.'' The popular Dad's Novelty Routine also received a High-Point in the Novelty Division. The STARS Dance Team rehearses at The Dance Experience dance studio in Canyon Country under the direction of Holly and Kevin Diaz.
