DAMOS SudAmerica Announces the Launch of ORBCOMM Services.

DAMOS SudAmerica and partners to market ORBCOMM satellite

services in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Peru,

Bolivia and Paraguay

ORBCOMM Global, L.P. (ORBCOMM), the first commercial provider of global low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite data and messaging communications services, today announced that its service licensee, DAMOS SudAmerica, officially launched its commercial data and messaging service in South America. The announcement of commercial service was made at an event held earlier this week with over 250 guests including DAMOS SudAmerica officials and Country Representatives as well as key Brazilian government officials. DAMOS SudAmerica, a partnership between Telespazio of Italy, Grupo Inepar of Brazil, Entel Chile and Group BGH of Argentina, will market ORBCOMM's satellite communications services in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay.

DAMOS SudAmerica operates the Brazilian and Argentinean gateway Earth stations - the terrestrial infrastructure that routes messages from the satellites to their intended recipients. DAMOS SudAmerica intends to target the transportation, oil and gas, marine, utility, heavy equipment and consumer markets. Each DAMOS SudAmerica Country Representative will market ORBCOMM's services through a network of value-added resellers (VARs).

According to studies conducted by DAMOS SudAmerica, the market for the next two years will be divided as follows: 60% for applications geared towards monitoring, 30% for tracking applications and 10% for messaging applications. "Due to the inadequacy of the existing communications infrastructure, the market represented by the countries of South America is one of the most significant for ORBCOMM," Marzio Laurenti concluded.

The commencement of ORBCOMM service by DAMOS SudAmerica follows a similar service launch three weeks ago by MCS Europe, the ORBCOMM service distribution partner serving 40 countries in Europe.
