DAMES & MOORE ACQUIRES AMAN ENVIRONMENTAL INC.; EXPANDS COMPANY'S DEMOLITION, ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION, AND CONSTRUCTION CAPABILITIES

 LOS ANGELES, April 7 /PRNewswire/ --Dames & Moore (NYSE: DM), international environmental and engineering consultants, has acquired Aman Environmental Inc., a California-based construction firm that specializes in demolition, environmental remediation, and construction. The acquisition was effective on April 1, 1993, and was an all-cash transaction. Specific terms were not disclosed; however, the transaction involved an up-front cash payment and an earn-out based upon future profitability.
 Established in 1987, Aman Environmental Inc. serves petroleum, industrial, commercial, and public sector clients throughout the western United States and Alaska. The company reported gross revenues of approximately $15 million in 1992.
 The two principals of the company, Steven Aman, 36, who served as president, and Dan Vossler, 44, who served as vice president, will continue to manage the operation. Steven Aman is a professional engineer and licensed contractor and Dan Vossler is a petroleum engineer and soil scientist. Both men have extensive experience in environmental programs and general construction associated with site remediation and industrial plant closures.
 Following the acquisition, the company is operating under the new name Aman Environmental Construction. The new entity is a wholly owned subsidiary of Dames & Moore. Arthur C. Darrow, who heads Dames & Moore's western North America operations, said, "The capabilities of Aman Environmental Construction will greatly enhance Dames & Moore's decommissioning and environmental remediation capabilities. This will enable us to more effectively serve our clients by providing comprehensive turnkey solutions to their environmental problems."
 Robert M. Perry, Dames & Moore's chief financial officer, commented that Aman has had a record of strong profitability and that he looks forward to Aman's positive contribution to Dames & Moore's earnings.
 Dames & Moore is a worldwide professional service company, providing comprehensive environmental and specialized consulting and engineering services. The company had gross revenues of $357.5 million in fiscal year 1992, and maintains offices and affiliates throughout the United States and in 19 other countries.
