DAMARK INTERNATIONAL, INC. ANNOUNCES ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGES

DAMARK INTERNATIONAL, INC. ANNOUNCES ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGES
MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- DAMARK International, Inc. (NASDAQ: DMRK) today announced that Mark A. Cohn, chairman and chief executive officer, is reassuming the additional post of president. He replaces Barry Marchessault, who has left the company to pursue other interests. The company also announced the departure of Tasso Koken, vice president-merchandising. As a result, the merchandising group will report directly to Cohn.
In commenting on the changes, Cohn said, "In today's demanding business and retailing environment, even growth companies can become too top heavy. Our flatter structure will allow for faster response times, improved decision making and reduced organizational redundancies.
"DAMARK has accomplished much this year, thanks to the hard work of many talented people. The quality of our catalogs has improved, we've transitioned to having a sales-culture orientation and we are seeing strong growth in our Preferred Buyers' Club segment. We will miss the depth and breadth of catalog experience that Barry Marchessault brought to DAMARK. We expect to announce earnings next Tuesday that are consistent with analysts' expectations."
Founded in 1986, DAMARK International, Inc., headquartered in Minneapolis, has become a leading national direct merchandiser of "great deals," offering brand name and other quality general merchandise at value-oriented prices.
