A charitable corporation located within the boundaries of Angeles National Forest, the facility was founded in 1976 by animal activist .

The truck carrying a herd of dairy cattle crashed into another truck pulling a Hot Dog on a Stick “Hot dog on a stick” redirects here. For the food, see corn dog.

``As tragic as it is, their demise means life for somebody else,'' she said.

Twenty-nine cows, which were enroute to Fresno, were rescued by animal control officers and an emergency equine team.

Eight other cows died when the impact thrust them on top of one another and they suffocated, said Jackie David, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Department of Animal Regulation. One cow was euthanized after it got wedged onto the trailer and broke its back.

The cattle truck driver suffered only a cut forearm, officials said.

The nine cattle that died were donated to the Waystation, said Leann Gibson, an office manager for the Anker Trucking company that was hauling the animals from Ontario to a Fresno dairy for milking.

The ordeal began at about 12:45 a.m. when the hotdog trailer of a truck carrying carnival equipment dislodged and fell into the westbound 210 Freeway lanes near Lowell Avenue, said California Highway Patrol highway patrol
