College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.

The Master's College History
The Master's College was founded as Los Angeles Baptist Theological Seminary on May 25, 1927 to meet the need for a fundamental Baptist school on the West Coast.

 Championships on Oct. 23 in Costa Mesa.

HIGH SCHOOLS

Canyon

The girls' volleyball team (4-1, 1-0) is off to a strong start, defeating Saugus in four games in Tuesday's Foothill League opener, Idaho- bound Haley Larsen totaled 16 kills, six aces and 13 digs. Next is visiting Hart at 4:45 p.m. today.

Hart

Led by doubles tandem Shannon Doherty and Kelly Weston, the girls' tennis team (2-6) might be turning the corner. The team is coming off its second victory in a row (a 14-4 win Tuesday over Burroughs), and looks to continue the momentum against visiting Canyon at 3 p.m. today.

Saugus

The girls' tennis team, coming off a 15-3 victory Tuesday over Canyon, plays host to Valencia at 3 p.m. today. Returning standout Nadia Sakhakorn led the way against Canyon, winning three sets by the score of 6-0.

Valencia

The football game between Valencia and visiting Notre Dame Notre Dame IPA: [nɔtʁ dam] is French for Our Lady, referring to the Virgin Mary. In the United States of America, Notre Dame  of Sherman Oaks at 7 p.m. Friday is set to be televised by Fox Sports West 2. The event also is scheduled to be broadcast by local radio station KHTS AM-1220, with Dave Caldwell calling the play-by-play.

In other news, the girls' golf team should have plenty of momentum heading into today's 1 p.m. Optimist tournament at De Bell. The team is coming off its first-ever Foothill League match victory Tuesday, as Stevy Loy led with a two-under-par round at El Cariso.
