DAILY UPDATE.Byline: - Gerry Gittelson COLLEGES College of the Canyons The women's golf team, which is 40-0 after a seven-stroke Western State Conference victory in Bakersfield on Monday, looks to remain undefeated at 8 a.m. today in another WSC match at Robinson Ranch. Diane Barber shot a four-over-par 76 Monday to finish No. 1 individually, and Janet Richards (80) placed third. The Master's College The men's basketball team plays host to the annual alumni game at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bross Gym. Among the participants scheduled to compete are Tyler Hoffman and Boss Van Rhee from last year's team, along with Joe Penberthy, Dominique Avila, James Mosley, Terry Minoy, Tom Bruner, Andy Thomson, Chad Bell, Leo Guarauskas, Todd Whittington and Jason Webster. HIGH SCHOOLS Canyon Expect senior lineman Scott Rose to enjoy future success beyond the football field. He carries a 4.29 grade-point average - highest on the team - and plans on attending Brigham Young University, as well as embarking on a Mormon mission. Eventually, Rose plans to become an engineer. Of course, in some ways Rose is just like most other teenagers: his favorite activity is playing video games. Hart Lineman Zac Zimmerman injured his knee during Friday's football game against Canyon and is scheduled to have an MRI today. Even if the results prove negative, he's doubtful for Friday's game at Burroughs in Burbank. Hart coach Mike Herrington said he's not sure who will start in Zimmerman's place. Saugus Kevin Estes caught seven passes during last week's football game against Burbank to give him 58 on the season, second most in California. With three regular-season games remaining plus possible playoff games, Estes needs 19 more receptions to eclipse Nathan Steele's 1999 school single-season record of 76 (13 games). Valencia Senior receiver Nick Shierts has good hands - and not just on the football field. He restores hot rods in his spare time. ``His parents are very involved in it, too,'' coach Brian Stiman said. ``Let's just say they drive cars that are a lot different than mine and yours Mine and Yours Terms used by floor traders to signify buying and selling.
