COLLEGES

College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  

Former City Section players have played an active role for the football team this season. Twenty are on the roster, several of whom are among the team's individual statistical leaders. Two of the team's top three receivers - Trevor Brackett (Hollywood) and Efren Lopez (Kennedy of Granada Hills) - are from City Section schools, along with top punt returner Punt returner (PR) is a position on special teams in American football. The Master's College History
The Master's College was founded as Los Angeles Baptist Theological Seminary on May 25, 1927 to meet the need for a fundamental Baptist school on the West Coast.
 

The women's volleyball team, coming off a four-set victory Saturday over visiting Hope International, finally is at .500 in the Golden State Athletic Conference The Golden State Athletic Conference is a college athletics conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The conference commissioner is Dr. Cliff Hamlow of Azusa Pacific University. Conference leadership is shared among the member institutions.  with a 6-6 record (16-9 overall). The Lady Mustangs have won four of their past five heading into tonight's match at California Baptist in Riverside at 7.

HIGH SCHOOLS

Canyon

Louis Montano, who has rushed for 778 yards in six games, has a reasonable chance to break Ed Williams' 1991 single-season school record of 1,572 yards if Montano keeps pace and the Cowboys (6-0, 1-0) advance deep into the Southern Section Division II playoffs. Montano is averaging 129.7 yards per game. Williams averaged 131.0 yards in 12 games to set the record during his sophomore season.

Hart

Anticipation is high for Hart's Foothill League football showdown against visiting Canyon at 7:30 p.m. Friday at College of the Canyons. Both are undefeated - Hart is 5-0-1, 1-0, and Canyon is 6-0, 1-0 - but Hart has ruled the series history 19-11, including eight consecutive victories. Hart has scored four touchdowns or more in each of those eight victories, including a 48-10 victory last year.

Saugus

The girls' golf team, coming off an eight-stroke nonleague victory Thursday over Granada Hills at Knollwood, is 21-0 heading into today's second Foothill League match at 1:30 p.m. at Vista Valencia.
