The women's volleyball team lost its eighth consecutive match to Victor Valley on Wednesday in a 30-17, 30-16, 30-14 Foothill Conference loss in Victorville.

Victoria Langenohl had seven kills and Patrice Muntz had 11 digs for the Marauders (3-7, 3-5), who earned praise from their coach Jane Cwayna.

``The game was a lot closer than the score,'' Cwayna said. ``I was proud of the girls. They never quit.''

Lancaster

A strong Lancaster presence can be seen on the Antelope Valley College women's soccer team. Former Eagles such as sophomore Dionne Werthmann and freshman Michelle Hamilton Michelle Hamilton (born Roxanna Platt on 20 December 1948 in Elmira, New York) was Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month for its March 1968 issue. Perhaps the girls' volleyball team and rival Highland will get some extra practice for their Golden League rematch in two weeks.

Both teams are scheduled to participate in today's Highland tournament. The Bulldogs' reign as the Golden League's dominant team is in jeopardy after the upstart Rebels scored a four-game win Tuesday.

Quartz Hill's hitting tandem of Kristen Voyson and Danielle Gruen and steady setter Randi Cooper makes the Rebels a tough team to beat in league play.
