COLLEGES

College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  

Former COC See chip on chip.  football standout Trevor Brackett came through with a promising performance as a junior receiver at Nevada this past season. He appeared in six of 12 games for the 5-7 Wolfpack, finishing fourth on the team with 13 receptions for 191 yards. He also averaged 20.5 yards on 11 kickoff returns. The team didn't qualify for a bowl.

The Master's College History
The Master's College was founded as Los Angeles Baptist Theological Seminary on May 25, 1927 to meet the need for a fundamental Baptist school on the West Coast.

Dashnaw was drafted by the Anaheim Angels in the 49th round in June but didn't sign a contract.

HIGH SCHOOLS

Canyon

Longtime athletic director Athletic director (commonly, "athletics director") is a position at many American colleges and universities, as well as in larger high schools and middle schools, which oversees the work of the coaches and related staff involved in intercollegiate or interscholastic athletic  Gary Lindberg is retiring at the end of the semester after 25 years.

``I am so excited, you have no idea. When it's time to say goodbye at our awards banquet, I might get up and say how sad I am, but I don't think so,'' Lindberg said.

Lindberg, 61, has coached various sports over the years, most recently JV football this past season. He plans to move to Eugene, Oregon, and he said he might work as an assistant coach.

Hart

After finishing the Slam Jam tournament at Cleveland High in Reseda on Thursday, the boys' basketball team has eight days off before traveling to Hawaii for the Maui Christmas Classic Dec. 17-19. The annual Hart tournament begins Dec. 27.

Saugus

The baseball team, coming off one of its most successful seasons, continues winter competition at 9 a.m. Saturday at Moorpark High.

Valencia

Tickets for the Southern Section Div. II football championship between Valencia and Mission Viejo at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Angel Stadium are available from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the campus' ASB ASB Asbestos
