COLLEGES

College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  

For the first time this season, the men's basketball team plays before the women's team Friday at College of the Canyons in the first round of the Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  playoffs.

The men's team (19-6), led by Durrell Davis and Carlton Spencer, plays L.A. Southwest (21-7) at 5:30 p.m. The women's team (22-5), led by Kaipresha Price, plays Moorpark College Moorpark College is a California-state funded community college located on a 134 acre (542,000 m²) property reclining on a hill in Moorpark, a town in Ventura County, California.  (19-9) at 7:30.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and children under 12.

The Master's College History
The Master's College was founded as Los Angeles Baptist Theological Seminary on May 25, 1927 to meet the need for a fundamental Baptist school on the West Coast.
 

Lavar Simmons, a junior center for the men's basketball team, has been named Golden State Athletic Conference The Golden State Athletic Conference is a college athletics conference in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The conference commissioner is Dr. Cliff Hamlow of Azusa Pacific University. Conference leadership is shared among the member institutions.  Player of the Week after helping The Master's to two victories last week. He scored 16 points with 12 rebounds, six blocked shots and two steals in a triple-overtime victory Tuesday over Westmont.

HIGH SCHOOLS

Canyon

The football team has totally revamped its nonleague schedule for next season, adding five new opponents. The Cowboys open against visiting Leuzinger of Lawndale, followed by a road game at Burroughs of Ridgecrest, a home game against Simi Valley Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969. , a road game at South Torrance, and a home game against Crespi of Encino.

Three of the opponents qualified for the playoffs last season. Burroughs of Ridgecrest advanced to the Div. VII final, and South Torrance and Crespi lost in the Div. X quarterfinals.

Hart

Adam Rich Adam Rich (born on October 12 1968) is an American actor born in Brooklyn, New York City. He is arguably best remembered for playing youngest son Nicholas Bradford on the 1970s television drama Eight is Enough  and Brandon McQueen, the leading scorers for the basketball team this season, were promising football prospects before deciding to concentrate on one sport.

Rich started at wide receiver - opposite Kevin Ciccone, who recently accepted a Fresno State football scholarship - and was among the best players on the team. McQueen was a Pop Warner Pop Warner refers to
  • Glenn Scobey "Pop" Warner, an early 20th century American college football coach, and
  • Pop Warner Little Scholars, a non-profit organization named after the coach that offers youth American football and cheerleading & dance programs
 standout in Palmdale, playing receiver on a team that included Mychal Bogan, who was Antelope Valley High's starting quarterback last season.

Saugus

Kyla Sullivan, a senior pitcher for the softball team, has committed to a Western Michigan scholarship. Sullivan, a right-hander, was 12-4 last season.

Valencia

Former softball standout Tori Rocco, who holds the school record for career victories (49), will miss her entire freshman season at Arkansas Tech because of tendinitis in her shoulder.

``She would have been the No. 1 pitcher but I think she pushed a little too hard,'' said her mother, Gail.

Rocco is undergoing treatment but has been removed from the roster.
