COLLEGES

Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties.  

Sid Melvin became the first Marauder MARAUDER. One who, while employed in the army as a soldier, commits a larceny or robbery in the neighborhood of the camp, or while wandering away from the army. Merl. Repert. h.t.  since 1995 to be named a California Community College Men's Basketball Association first-team all-state selection.

The 6-foot-3 sophomore's efforts were vital to the team's 29-7 record and its first Foothill Conference championship in four seasons.

Melvin was also named first-team all-conference for the second consecutive season.

 to open up the season, will play 3-1 Highland at Lancaster Municipal Stadium, home of the minor-league JetHawks, at 3:15 p.m. Each Golden League team gets to play its first league game at the stadium as part of a special arrangement put together by Lancaster coach Doug Martin Doug Martin (born May 22, 1957 in Fairfield, California), is a former American professional football player who was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the 1st round (9th overall) of the 1980 NFL Draft. A 6'3", 258 lbs. .

Highland

The softball team will host the ninth annual High Desert Classic from Friday through Monday. The 32-team tournament is among the toughest in the area. Highland opens Friday at 5 p.m. against Sultana.

Shelburne was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She attended El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills, California where she was a class valedictorian.
 

Lancaster

The baseball team gets a big setting for one of its biggest games of the year. The Eagles' Golden League opener against Quartz Hill will be played at Lancaster Municipal Stadium on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Quartz Hill is the defending league champion and a favorite to repeat.

Littlerock

The softball team's schedule is starting to resemble that of a college program, with five consecutive days with games beginning today. Littlerock will play against Desert, spend three days in the High Desert Classic in Lancaster and finish with another nonleague contest Monday against Barstow.

``There's a lot of games,'' coach Tammy Zimmardi said. ``But the girls definitely enjoy the games more than practicing.'' Zimmardi also is working to reschedule re·sched·ule

Palmdale

The track and field teams begins Golden League play today at Littlerock. Senior quarter-miler Ryan Fraiser and sophomore jumper Jarreau Flowers will lead the boys' team, which is expected to be down this season after finishing second last year. Paraclete

The softball team will begin play in the High Desert Classic, which is hosted by Highland, on Friday. The 32-team, two-division tournament is attracting teams from as far as Fresno. Bullard, a traditional central-section powerhouse, is making the trip.

``It's a really tough tournament this year,'' Paraclete coach Margaret Neill said. ``They've got a lot of good teams.''

Other teams at the tournament include Valencia and Camarillo. Paraclete won it in 2001.

Quartz Hill

The softball team improved to 4-2 by sweeping a doubleheader against Burroughs of Ridgecrest on Tuesday, both 6-0 victories. Brieann Huling earned the victory in the first game to improve to 3-0. The Rebels return to action Friday as they begin play in the High Desert Classic with a 3 p.m. game against Notre Dame Notre Dame IPA: [nɔtʁ dam] is French for Our Lady, referring to the Virgin Mary. In the United States of America, Notre Dame  of Sherman Oaks.
