The baseball season began Monday with Antelope Valley playing Taft of Woodland Hills in the Daily News Invitational. The tournament continues Friday when Antelope Valley travels to Marshall of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  for a 3 p.m. game. The baseball team will open its season Friday in the Daily News Invitational at Monroe of North Hills at 3 p.m. The Bulldogs then play at home Saturday at 11 a.m. against Harvard-Westlake of Studio City.

Littlerock

Both of the wrestling team's representatives to last weekend's Southern Section Masters Meet advanced to the second day of competition. Senior Dan Mealey (171 pounds) finished 3-2 and came within one spot of qualifying for the state meet, losing 6-2 in the round of 16. Fellow senior Devin Field (119) went 2-2. The pair were Littlerock's first qualifiers to the Masters Meet in eight years.

Lobos coach Del King said Mealey likely will wrestle in the Armed Services The Constitution authorizes Congress to raise, support, and regulate armed services for the national defense. The President of the United States is commander in chief of all the branches of the services and has ultimate control over most military matters.  next year. Cameron Froede lasted longer among all Golden Leaguers in the Southern Section Masters wrestling meet except the lone state qualifier, Highland's John Ikahihifo, on Saturday. Froede (145 pounds) lost his first match to Dominguez Robert of Northview, knocking him into the loser's bracket early. But he rebounded to make a nice run, beating Shingo Hosoma of Diamond Ranch and Jacob Parra of Rancho Cucamonga to get one match away from the state-qualifying match. However, he was then eliminated by Ryan Cloutier of Yucca Valley.

Paraclete

The boys' soccer team, which posted two easy 4-0 victories before holding off Los Amigos AMIGOS Advanced Mobile Integration in General Operating Systems  in a 4-3 thriller on Saturday, will play at Salesian of Los Angeles today in a Southern Section Division V semifinal at 3 p.m.

Tim Lanski and Tony Vigil, two of Paraclete's key offensive players all season, totaled all four goals in the Spirits' victory over Los Amigos, their 22nd win of the season.

The winner meets the winner of the Animo/Serrano game Saturday in the final.

Quartz Hill

The boys' volleyball team, looking to contend for a Golden League title, gets off to a busy start this week. The Rebels have a home scrimmage against Paraclete today at 5 p.m. before opening the regular season Wednesday at Simi Valley.
