The chances for the boys' soccer team to win its first Golden League game of the season were cut by two-thirds Thursday. Wednesday's game against Lancaster was rained out. Also ruined by rain were the plans to allow Antelope Valley to replay a game against Palmdale it had previously forfeited because of a bookkeeping error.

Friday's game between the schools at Antelope Valley had been bumped up to Thursday to allow for the makeup of the game at Palmdale on Friday. Because of the rain, the forfeit will stand and the teams played the regularly scheduled game at Antelope Valley on Friday to close out the regular season.

Littlerock

The girls' soccer team had to scramble just to play Friday's make-up game against Lancaster. With the game postponed from Thursday and a three-day weekend ahead, several of coach Leslie Killinger's players left for vacations. It made for an interesting send-off, however, for Littlerock's three seniors - Amanda Dundes, Janet Morris Janet Ellen Morris (born May 25, 1946) is a United States author. She began writing in 1976 and has since published more than 20 novels, many co-authored with David Drake or her husband Chris Morris.  and Ann Marie Brons - who endured a winless Golden League season in Killinger's first year.

``We're just hoping to get them a game,'' Killinger said. The coach expected to promote several junior-varsity players, though that meant the cancellation of the JV game.

Palmdale

Cancellation of games due to rain could help the boys' soccer team make the playoffs. Palmdale, 4-4 in the Golden League entering the final game of the regular season at Antelope Valley on Friday, is in third place by a point over Lancaster (3-3-2). The rain took away a probable easy victory for Lancaster over Antelope Valley and canceled Palmdale's game against first-place Quartz Hill. As of now, the games are canceled. However, Lancaster coach Geoff Carlson has indicated he would appeal if the Eagles miss the postseason.

Paraclete

The boys' soccer team was once ranked first in the Southern Section Division V poll. Now 10th, the Spirits probably won't earn a top-four seed when the playoff brackets are announced Monday. But Paraclete should be a threat.

Paraclete has struggled in recent matches. It lost to Olympic League- rival Crossroads of Santa Monica 2-1 on Thursday. It was Crossroads' first league victory.

Quartz Hill

The boys' soccer team will get a key part of its offense back just in time for the Southern Section playoffs as Kiel McClung is scheduled to return next week. McClung is in Brazil for the Futuro Cup with the U.S. Olympic Development Program Region IV team. McClung has yet to score during his team's 1-1 start.
