Derek Hagan advanced to the state prelims but didn't jump as far as expected at the Masters meet. After jumping a personal best 47 feet, 9 1/4 inches the previous week, Hagan had a chance at 48 feet. But he regressed to 47-3 1/2.

Quartz Hill

Though the Rebels' softball and baseball teams lost in the first round of the Southern Section playoffs, it was a productive spring for Quartz Hill teams. The baseball, softball and boys' tennis teams all won Golden League championships. The baseball team ended a long drought of not winning league titles, while the softball and boys' tennis teams continued their reigns as the Golden League's premier programs. The boys' tennis team also lost a first-round heartbreaker heart·break·er
