Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties.  

Tami Oritz has provided the offensive spark more often than not for the softball softball, variant of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Invented (1888) in Chicago as an indoor game, it was at various times called indoor baseball, mush ball, playground ball, kitten ball, and, because it was also played by women, ladies'  team this season.

    Robert Kevin Appier (December 6, 1967) is a former right-handed Major League Baseball pitcher who played for the Kansas City Royals, Oakland Athletics, New York Mets, and Anaheim Angels.

    Highland

    It's been a first week of mixed success for Colgate freshman softball player and former Highland standout Natalie Rawson.

    Rawson started Colgate's first game and gave up eight runs (two earned) in 3.1 innings, but has hit three home runs in eight games. Rawson's leadoff home run in the second inning Tuesday was the winning margin in Colgate's 2-1 victory over Dartmouth.

    Lancaster

    The Eagles baseball team looks to end its offensive slump and earn its first Golden League victory when it plays at Antelope Valley today. The defending Golden League champion Eagles dropped to 1-5 by losing Friday's league opener to Quartz Hill 10-1.

    Jake Read, one of the Golden League's top punters, is also an excellent golfer. He shot an 8-over-par 80 for the Lobos in their last match at Rancho Vista in Palmdale.

    The golf team's next league match is Thursday at Tierra del Sol in California City.

     rival Highland in any sport. But boys' track stands out even more so this year because the teams are favorites to battle for the top spot in the Golden League. The teams meet for their only dual meet of the season Thursday. Last year, Palmdale edged Highland to take the league title.

    The golf team plays a nonleague match against Antelope Valley at Rancho Vista Golf Club at 1 p.m. today after playing its third Alpha League team tournament of the season Monday.

    The Spirits, led by seniors Travis Gatza, Matt Regoli and Kevin Trujillo, have solid experience. That trio should make the Spirits a factor in the league-championship race.

    Quartz Hill

    Canyon, which plays host to Quartz Hill in a nonleague softball game today at 3:15 p.m., has been solid and should compete for the Foothill League championship. The Cowboys finished third at the prestigious Hart tournament.

    Canyon split its last two doubleheaders against Moorpark and Lancaster last week and is led by Lauren Tripp.

    The Rebels are favored to win the Golden League and have also played a challenging schedule.
