Crenshaw has started most games this year in center field. He bats left and throws right. would break into the major leagues this year. Now it appears Kubel's future could be determined by how Minnesota Twins' outfielder Jacques Jones (USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code. ) performs this year. Kubel is out for the season with a knee injury, so the Twins re-signed Jones to a one-year, $5 million deal. Jones hit a career-worst .254 last season. If he improves this season, he'll likely leave via free agency, making way for Kubel in left field. - Ramona Shelburne Ramona Shelburne is an American sports journalist currently writing for the Los Angeles Daily News. Shelburne was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She attended El Camino Real High School in Woodland Hills, California where she was a class valedictorian. Lancaster Freshman pitcher Heather Sandberg's 3-2 record might not look that impressive, but her 0.86 ERA leads the Golden League. Lancaster has scored just one run in Sandberg's two losses. - Ramona Shelburne Littlerock Although the Lobos are joining the rest of the Golden League schools on spring break this week, swimming coach Derek Kirwan is working with his athletes this week. The boys' 200-yard relay team is closing in on a Southern Section Div. IV consideration time of 1 minute, 42.5 seconds. The boys' team is coming off its first dual-meet victory of the season, a 79-67 win over Knight on March 30. - Erik Boal Palmdale After about two years of planning and construction, Palmdale debuted its new softball softball, variant of baseball played with a larger ball on a smaller field. Invented (1888) in Chicago as an indoor game, it was at various times called indoor baseball, mush ball, playground ball, kitten ball, and, because it was also played by women, ladies' field last week in a victory over Knight. Much of the donations to build the field came from bake sales. The softball team will have sole use of this field. The other facility was a multipurpose mul·ti·pur·pose adj.
