Highland won the last tournament outright after tying Quartz Hill in the previous two. - Erik Boal Palmdale One current and three former Palmdale girls' soccer players announced Tuesday that they will attend college at Kansas Wesleyan. Kelly Balch, last year's goalkeeper, will join 2004 goalkeeper Ashley Trinidad, defender Tiara Sigaran (2004) and midfielder Laura Teddy (2003) at the small Methodist college. The reason four Palmdale players are going to end up all the way in Kansas is coach Mike Dibbini, a former standout player at Palmdale High who graduated in 1994. Dibbini, the coach of both the men's and women's programs, decided to use his old stomping grounds as a recruiting resource and is bringing in at least 12 players from the Antelope Valley area next year. - Matthew Kredell Paraclete The Spirits baseball team hosts Desert in a nonleague game at 3:15 p.m. today in its final tuneup before hosting its own tournament. The tournament is scheduled to run Monday, Tuesday, March 31 and April 2. Kurtis Brown and Barry Ennis continue to carry Paraclete offensively, hitting .571 and .438, respectively. - Erik Boal Quartz Hill At Tuesday's ceremony announcing that 14 local soccer players will compete in the fall for the men's and women's programs at Kansas Wesleyan, one player stood out from the rest of the group. Quartz Hill graduate Dale Billodeaux, 30, signed to play for the men's team at the NAIA NAIA abbr.
