The girls' basketball team faces a formidable challenge when it plays host to Jurupa Valley of Mira Loma in a Southern Section Div I-A second-round playoff game Noun 1. playoff game - one game in the series of games constituting a playoff

Like Antelope Valley, the Jaguars are a quick, athletic, high-scoring team. Jurupa Valley is led by junior guard Tamara Wells and her younger sister, Lola, a freshman guard, who are averaging 16.7 and 12.8 points per game, respectively.

``They're a really good team, but I think we match up fairly well against them,'' Antelope Valley coach Jake Gregory said.

Highland

Steve Frehn will be the school's only wrestler this weekend at the Southern Section Masters Meet at Fountain Valley Fountain Valley, city (1990 pop. 53,691), Orange co., S Calif.; inc. 1957. Chiefly residential, Fountain Valley also has diverse manufactures, including apparel, computer equipment, semiconductors, and medical equipment. A U.S. navy helicopter facility is there.  High. Last season, Highland sent four wrestlers to the Masters Meet, and the Golden League sent 11. Frehn is one of four Golden League wrestlers competing this year.

The Masters Meet is a state-championship qualifier. Thirty wrestlers from each of the six divisions in the Southern Section compete in each weight class. Frehn has qualified as a 145-pounder by virtue of his victory in the Central Division meet last weekend.

Former girls' basketball standout Kelli Valentine is having an impact as a freshman for Antelope Valley College Antelope Valley College is a comprehensive community college located in Lancaster, California, USA. It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties. , where she averages 7.6 points and 5.9 rebounds off the bench.

The Marauders (28-2) got the No. 3 seed in the Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  (16-11) at 7:30 Friday in the first round.

The girls' basketball team (18-5) plays host to St. Paul of Santa Fe Springs Santa Fe Springs, city (1990 pop. 15,520), Los Angeles co., SW Calif., inc. 1957. The city lies in an oil and natural gas region and has diversified manufacturing.  (21-8) at 7:30 p.m. tonight in a Southern Section Div. IV-AA second-round playoff game that will showcase drastically different playing styles.

Jessica Echenique, a junior guard, is 59 for 166 in 3-point attempts for a Paraclete team that is 67 for 200 beyond the arc.

The Swordsmen, by contrast, have attempted just 13 3-pointers and made just three.

Palmdale

The girls' basketball team (17-11) faces one of the Southern Section's hottest teams in a Div. I-AA second-round game at Etiwanda (25-4) at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

The Eagles have won nine consecutive games and 16 of their past 17.

Quartz Hill

Former softball standout Shauna Cabriales is contributing to Antelope Valley College's team as a freshman. She tripled to start a decisive two-run inning in last week's 5-3 victory over Citrus of Glendora.
