The Golden League co-champion girls' basketball team (16-12) will host an opening-round Southern Section Div. I-A playoff game Noun 1. playoff game - one game in the series of games constituting a playoff

 at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday against the winner of tonight's wild-card game between San Antonio San Antonio (săn ăntō`nēō, əntōn`), city (1990 pop. 935,933), seat of Bexar co., S central Tex., at the source of the San Antonio River; inc. 1837.  League runner-up Walnut (16-7) and Ivy of Riverside (13-13), an at-large team from the Ivy League.

It's been an unlucky recruiting trail for Ross Driscoll Jr., a first-team Golden League selection as a safety this season.

Driscoll was recruited heavily by BYU BYU Brigham Young University

Lancaster

The girls' basketball team took Monday off to rest up before beginning preparations for the Southern Section Div. I-AA playoffs. Lancaster plays host to Rialto Rialto, city (1990 pop. 72,388), San Bernardino co., S Calif., a residential suburb of San Bernardino; inc. 1911. The city has greatly expanded as a result of the economic and demographic growth of the southern California area.  in a wild-card game at 7:30 tonight.

Littlerock

The Golden League champion boys' soccer team (14-2-4) plays host to Etiwanda, a third-place team out of the Baseline League in a Southern Section Div. I first-round playoff game Saturday at 11 a.m.

Littlerock, which won its first outright league title (the Lobos won a share of the title in 1997), is led by senior defender Francisco Medrano, junior center midfielder Wilson Mancia, and first-year senior striker Francisco ``Paco'' Bravo, the team's leading scorer.

Palmdale

The Golden League co-champion girls' basketball team will have to overcome a significant size disadvantage when it plays host to Southwestern League runner-up Rancho Verde of Moreno Valley in a Southern Section Div. I-AA playoff opener Saturday at 7:30.

Rancho Verde senior post players Amber Cox and Tainoisouiti Lott both are 6-foot-2 and have combined for 554 points, 283 rebounds and 50 blocks.

Sophomore Charity Smith (6-0) and senior Brittany Vincent (5-11) are Palmdale's tallest players.

Paraclete

The Alpha League runner-up girls' basketball team has a first-round bye in the Southern Section Div. IV-AA playoffs. Paraclete (17-5) will play host to the winner of tonight's opening-round game between De Anza League The De Anza League is an American high school sports league in Riverside County, California and San Bernardino County, California.

Teams in the league include:
  • Big Bear High School Bears
  • Desert Hot Springs High School Golden Eagles
 runner-up Notre Dame of Riverside (20-7) and Loma Linda Academy Loma Linda Academy (LLA) is a K-12 college preparatory WASC-accredited school run by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Loma Linda, California. It was founded in 1906. Loma Linda Academy comprises three separate schools: an elementary school, a junior high, and a high school.  (14-8), an at-large team out of the Christian League, on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Quartz Hill

The Golden League champion boys' basketball team is one of the hottest teams going into the Southern Section Div. I-AA playoffs.

Quartz Hill (18-6), which plays host to Orange League runner-up Valley of Santa Ana (14-11) on Friday at 7:30 p.m., has won 11 of 12 games, 13 of 15, and 17 of 20.
