The girls' basketball team opens the season at the prestigious Buena tournament this week. Highland plays Div. I-A semifinalist Ventura at 8:30 tonight and Marmonte League The Marmonte League is a high school sports league primarily made up of schools from Ventura County. On Saturday, teams will be seeded based on the results of pool play. The seventh-place game is at 3 p.m., following the consolation (4:30), third-place (6) and championship (7:30) games.

The boys' basketball team won its first game of the Canyon tournament, 66-59 over North Hollywood, on Tuesday evening.

The Falcons (3-1) were paced by Xzavier Johnston, who had 23 points. They continued play against Cajon on Wednesday night.

The two-time Delphic League champion girls' basketball team will look to extend its title run in a new league.
