The boys' basketball team is close to setting its final roster as it approaches Monday's season opener, when it plays host to Canyon of Canyon Country at 7:30 p.m.

Safety Ross Driscoll Jr. and running back Micah Littlejohn were chosen first-team, All-Golden League selections. Offensive lineman Justin Todd, receiver Chris Meier, tight end Daniel McDaniel, linebacker Chris Rosales and defensive lineman Vernard Wilkins were named to the second team. Kolin Brown was an honorable mention.

Driscoll, a 5-10 senior, has been selected to play in Max Emfinger's High School All-American Bowl The All-American Bowl was an annual post-season college football game played at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama from 1977 to 1990. The game was known as the Hall of Fame Classic from 1977 to 1985.  at Shreveport, La. He's being recruited by BYU BYU Brigham Young University

Wide receiver Colt DeCasas was honorable mention all-Golden League. He had eight catches for 111 yards and rushed three times for 48 yards.

Also, offensive lineman Billy Boughan, a first-team, all-league pick, was misidentified in yesterday's Daily News as Billy Bohan.

The girls' basketball team plays host to its second annual three-day, eight-team tournament starting today.

The tournament features several strong Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Palmdale

The girls' basketball team couldn't get past Ashlee Trebilcock and Hart High on Tuesday - the Falcons fell to 1-1 with the 64-43 loss - but will have plenty of opportunities to work out the kinks before Golden League starts.

Palmdale travels to the Buena-Kiwanis Tournament next weekend and the Santa Barbara Santa Barbara (săn'tə bär`brə, –bərə), city (1990 pop. 85,571), seat of Santa Barbara co., S Calif., on the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1850.  Tournament Dec. 20-22. The Falcons close out the tournament season at the Ayala Tournament Dec. 27-29.

Junior Canyon High of Canyon Country transfer Nicole Davenport will play on the girls' junior varsity junior varsity

Davenport is the team's starting midfielder and has been named the team captain, coach Chuck McKaughan said.

Quartz Hill

The girls' soccer team opened its season with a 1-0 loss to one of the area's best teams, defending Foothill League champion Canyon, on Tuesday.

Quartz Hill (0-1) continues nonleague play when it hosts Valencia at 6 tonight.
