COLLEGES

College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  

The women's volleyball team, which wrapped up a 13-7 campaign Saturday with a loss at San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. The Master's College History
The Master's College was founded as Los Angeles Baptist Theological Seminary on May 25, 1927 to meet the need for a fundamental Baptist school on the West Coast.
 

The women's basketball team is on a two-week break after winning the Cactus Classic tournament last weekend at Grand Canyon University Grand Canyon University is a for-profit, non-denominational Christian university in Phoenix, Arizona. The University offers online and campus-based bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. The campus has approximately 1,700 students.  in Phoenix. Tiffany Webb scored 19 points in an 82-74 championship victory Saturday over Minnesota-Crookston.

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame
 induction dinner was a success, according to booster president Ken Guidroz.

``It went fantastic. We had more than 100 people there,'' he reported.

The boys' team followed with a victory over the alumni Wednesday. Kris Rincon was the leading scorer.

Hart

Former boys' basketball standout Adam Rich was among the final cuts from Utah State's roster. He is taking a year off from basketball while attending classes at the university.

``Adam was right there,'' Hart coach Tom Kelly said. ``If Utah State didn't have so many returning seniors who had to stay on the roster, then Adam probably would have made it.''

Rich participated in the Hart alumni event last week.

Saugus

Boys' basketball players Cody Nikkel and Sharif Khineche have returned from injuries after missing an opening scrimmage last week against Royal of Simi Valley.

Nikkel, a senior forward, and Khineche, a senior center, participated in an 85-53 victory over the alumni Wednesday.

Valencia

Football standout Anthony DeFilippo has a school-record 21 sacks for the Vikings (11-1) entering the Southern Section Div. II semifinals against visiting San Clemente (10-2) at 7:30 p.m. Friday. DeFilippo had three in a quarterfinal victory over Chino Chino (chē`nō), city (1990 pop. 59,682), San Bernardino co., S Calif.; founded 1887, inc. 1910. It is the business and processing center of a diversified farming (notably dairying) area.  Hills last week to break Brandon Fuselier's record of 20 set in 2000.

DeFilippo's sack total is believed to be a Foothill League record, although every team doesn't compile thorough defensive statistics on a yearly basis.

None of the other five Foothill League teams have ever reported a player with more than 20 sacks.
